Josef McLean, MD
Director of Neonatology
St. Joseph's/Candler Hospital
Dr. Josef Elliott McLean is the Director of Neonatology at St. Joseph’s/Candler Hospital in Savannah, Georgia, and serves as Vice Chair of Pediatrics. He is a board-certified neonatologist with a strong foundation in clinical care, research, and medical education. Dr. McLean completed his residency at the University of Mississippi and his fellowship at Loyola Medical Center.
He has contributed to research on neonatal conditions and participated in national initiatives, including the AAP National Perinatal COVID-19 study. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. McLean leads quality improvement efforts and supports new parent education, helping to strengthen care delivery and outcomes for newborns and their families.
Outside of his clinical and leadership responsibilities, Dr. McLean enjoys mentoring colleagues, fostering collaboration, and supporting innovation in neonatal care. He values meaningful relationships, lifelong learning, and the opportunity to make a positive impact on both families and healthcare teams.
