Onsite Partner Hospital DeTar Healthcare System Achieves Texas Level III NICU Designation

DeTar Healthcare System has achieved a significant accomplishment; they have received its Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Level III designation from the state of Texas! In September 2016, Onsite Neonatal Partners partnered with DeTar Healthcare System to deliver high-quality care to families in the Victoria and surrounding communities. Since then, together, we have expanded our services to include younger and sicker babies so families are not separated during their infant’s NICU hospital stay.

What does a Level III designation mean? Their Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) has a team of health care professionals who care for newborns of any gestational age or birthweight.

Dr. Girish Gowda, Onsite’s Director of Neonatology at DeTar, tells us the significance of this new designation. “Level three designation demonstrates that DeTar has the staff and expert care necessary to provide a higher level of care for critically ill newborns for the community in Victoria. With this designation, we at DeTar can keep the smaller and sicker babies here in Victoria and eliminate the family’s stress when the babies are transferred after the baby is born. The nurses are specially trained to take care of the babies and support the family when they have babies in the ICU. We always had, and Onsite will continue to have 24 x 7 neonatologists that stay on-site and are available in any emergency.”
