Dr. Josef Elliott McLean is the Director of Neonatology at St. Joseph’s/Candler Hospital in Savannah, Georgia, and serves as Vice Chair of Pediatrics. He is a board-certified neonatologist with a strong foundation in clinical care, research, and medical education. Dr. McLean completed his residency at the University of Mississippi and his fellowship at Loyola Medical Center.
He has contributed to research on neonatal conditions and participated in national initiatives, including the AAP National Perinatal COVID-19 study. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. McLean leads quality improvement efforts and supports new parent education, helping to strengthen care delivery and outcomes for newborns and their families.
Dr. McLean provides on-site care for premature and medically complex newborns at St. Joseph’s/Candler Hospital. He works closely with hospital teams to deliver coordinated, evidence-based care while supporting quality improvement and parent education initiatives. His approach emphasizes clear communication, collaboration, and consistent support for families.
