Norwalk Hospital

Twice the coverage for the same cost.

  • Before: 1500 births, 2 neonatologists backing up 24/7 in-house physician assistants
  • After: 1700 births, 24/7 in-house coverage by neonatologists. Retained current neonatologist staff and added 2 more

Today, Norwalk’s level III nursery was attended by a 2-physician neonatology practice that conducted rounds during weekdays, and covered from home nights and weekends.

Onsite was able to deliver 24/7 in-house coverage by neonatologists for the same administrative fee—and even retained the 2 neonatologists who were already in place there.

How can Onsite offer so much more in-house coverage without additional cost? For one thing, unlike a small physician practice, we have the resources to do thorough billing and follow up with insurers. For another, Onsite’s 24/7 model encourages obstetricians and pediatricians to make use of neonatology any time they need it—which also contributes to a higher standard of care.

Working hand-in-hand with the hospital’s OB staff, Onsite is now pioneering innovative programs to focus on wellness care for late pre-term infants, including a Short Stay program that addresses common clinical issues in a consistent and cost-effective way.

Onsite’s 24/7 coverage is one contributing factor to Norwalk’s 12% growth in deliveries the 2 years we have been with them. It’s also providing a foundation for the hospital’s ambition to reach 2500 deliveries in the near term.
